The MONTOL (Winter Solstice) Candle
MONTOL, originally thought to mean Winter Solstice in Cornish as it represents balance, is also festival in Penzance that celebrates the Solstice and the return to the light.
The winter solstice marks the longest night of the year, and this blend of sacred essential oils can support reflection, release, and renewal. Together, the blend of these essential oils create a powerful ritual blend for honouring the solstice and welcoming the light.
The MONTOL blend
Black spruce offers grounding and inner strength, anchoring us in stillness while reminding us of resilience through darkness.
Juniper berry brings purification and energetic cleansing, helping us let go of the old and create space for the new.
Cedarwood Himalayan, with its deep, earthy aroma, instills calm and connection to the wisdom of ancient forests, offering protection and support during introspection.
Sweet orange brings a spark of joy and lightness, symbolising the sun’s return and infusing hope into the dark.
Frankincense, long used in spiritual rites, elevates the spirit and deepens meditation, while Myrrh encourages surrender and healing, guiding us through the sacred pause of midwinter.
Pure essential oils are hand blended with a bespoke blend of sustainable soy, coconut and rapeseed wax. Hand poured in small batches in Cornwall, into real amber glass or refillable handmade ceramics. Learn more about our materials and sustainability here.

Candle care & Safety
Candle care & Safety
Please follow the correct safety measures to ensure you get the most out of your candle. Along with the importance of safety, the correct care can also prolong the life of your candle.
- Ensure you trim the wick to approximately 5mm before each burn, this will help for a clean burn and will control the size of the flame on your candle.
- Allow the wax to melt until it reaches the edges of your jar before you extinguish as this will create a candle memory and a clean even burn in the future and help to prevent tunnelling, but never burn your candles longer than 2-3 hours for small candles, and up to 4 hours for medium and above sized candles.
- Always trim the wick after each burn. Always have a minimum 10cm gap between candles for safety.
- When there is 1/2 an inch of wax remaining in the jar discontinue use as this will prevent possible damage to the jar or the surface the candle is sitting on.
- Never Leave burning candles unattended or use as a night light. When handling your candle when lit or just after, please ensure you hold at the bottom of the glass where it is cooler.
- Keep out of the reach of children and pets.
